Student Services Mission Statement:
To provide a personalized approach to students' academic, social, and career-related needs using a relevant and data-driven program.
My name is Mrs. Whitney Ferrell, and I am the licensed School Counselor for South Davidson Middle School. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Human Services in 2010 from Gardner-Webb University and my Master's degree, also from Gardner-Webb University, in December of 2013. My specialty areas include substance abuse prevention, individual counseling, group counseling, self-harm prevention, Section 504 coordination, crisis intervention, positive behavior support, and community networking. I coordinate the Positive Behavior Intervention Team to provide a school-wide framework for encouraging good behavior, coordinate Section 504 identification and accommodation planning, and coordinate care for our concussion protocol. I worked in the fields of community mental health and substance abuse prevention for about five years with such companies as Triumph, New River Behavioral Healthcare, Bayada, and Insight Human Services. I love working with children of all ages, and have garnered wonderful experience working with elementary, middle, and high school students. If you feel that your child would benefit from individual or group counseling services, or if you need information about the referral process for local psychological agencies, please do not hesitate to contact me at 336-242-5705, extension 6330, on Class Dojo, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
