Student Opportunities

Carson Scholars Fund
Who:  students in grades 4 through 11 who have at least a 3.75 GPA for the current school year and are involved in community service activities.
When:  
  1. The school nominates a student and completes the online nomination form.  Deadline: Friday, December 14, 2018 at 8:00 pm EST.  Within 48 hours of nomination approval, the student will receive an email with a link to the online application.
  2. The nominated student completes the online application.  The application includes submission of an essay, report card, biographical information, community service details and (online) teacher recommendation.  Application deadline: Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 8:00 pm EST.  
  3. The principal receives an email on January 14, 2019 asking him/her to verify that the nominee's application has been completed honestly.  Deadline: Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 8:00 pm EST.  Please note, principals cannot begin verifying applications until instructions are emailed on January 14.

WFBH Lexington Medical Center VolunTeen Program
Who:  students ages 14-18 (applicant must be 14 years old by June 1, 2019)
 
When:  March 8, 2019 by 5 pm.  Application packet submitted by mail and application submitted online.

**Volunteers who are chosen for this position must attend a mandatory orientation on Wednesday, June 19 from 9am - 1pm.  The program runs for 6 weeks (6/24-8/2) and volunteers must dedicate 100 volunteer hours.

Radio Camp
Who:  middle school students with transportation to and from Winston Salem
 
When:  Session I: 6/17-6/21 OR Session IV: 7/22-7/26.  Sessions run from 9 am - 2 pm, with dropoff beginning at 8:30 am.
